Another IT Anomaly

I had to write to 10mega today

Dear 10MEGA,

I am writing to you today as I recently bought one of your 512MB Mini Drives that I chose specifically because of its compatibility with Win 98 and the availability or a Win 98 driver. I have to say that I was disappointed when I opened the packaging, as the drive was not shipped with its drivers. In order to get the drivers required, I was instructed to go to your website.

In order to download the software that I needed from your website, I had to go through a number of steps. One of these steps was to find 'My Product ID' to help identify what product I was getting the drivers for.
Bearing in mind I was trying to download the Win 98 driver so that I could use this product with a Win 98 machine, 10Mega's suggestion was to plug the flash drive into a Win XP or 2000 machine, and search for it's prod ID in Device Manager.

I don't think this is good enough.

Surely, if this product is stated as Win 98 compatible, I shouldn't have to:

a) Go online to download the drivers for its use.
b) Have to have a Win 2000 or Win XP machine in order to find out what the product ID of the drive is in order to go online and download the drivers so that it will work with Win 98.

Where is the logic in that?
Why isn't there a direct link to the software with the drive?

I look forward to hearing back from you.

Regards,
