2,4,6,8 Who do we appreciate?

Feeling a little 'worse for wear' today as i went out to The Forum in Kentish Town last night to see Gomez play. They were fantastic. It has been a long time since i have been to a gig where all the musicians on stage swapped instruments. I imagine their ability to jam along on anything is down to the 'pounds of marijuana' they have caned and the 'hundreds of bottles of Jack Daniels' they have drunk during the many hours they have spent on their tour bus. (There i quote!) A fitting diet for the love children of Janis Joplin and Tom Waites.
The gig was an eclectic mix of old and new material which meant the crowds sang along with gusto, climaxing with 'Get Myself Arrested'.
The first time I heard Ben Ottewell's vocals, they cut through the crowd like a deity had just spoken. Around me the crowd chatter subsided. I half expected the ceiling to part and for light to flood in from above. I was convinced during a couple of tracks that there was a fiddler on stage with them but looking around it was Ben that was coaxing the sound from his slide guitar.
By the time i left the venue, i was aching to be in a band again, the true mark of a good gig!
Stunning, I can't wait until next tour.

Curtains up!

First Post!

*bugle*

I used to write a diary.
I used to write it every day.
I have diaries that go so far back that they have entries in them about playing with my Sindy dolls. I recently unearthed them from my father's loft and what amusement i have had re-reading them!
I am a twin and I shared a bedroom throughout my childhood with my sister.
Writing a diary back then was my escape, my space away from the crowded quarters we lived in.

This blog is intended as documentation of the development of the Victorian house we bought together about thirty years after the photo below was taken.
Far from wanting to escape one another we have chosen to live in close quarters again!
